Группа "Сумма" начала реконструкцию музыкальной школы имени Гнесиных в Москве
The newspaper Kommersant wrote on Tuesday that the company Inteks, a subsidiary of Ziyavudin Magomedov's Summa Group, has begun the renovation of the Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow.
The newspaper claims that the contract is worth 1.192 billion rubles.
The Gnesin Academy of Music complex consists of four buildings located at the following addresses: 12 ul. Znamenka (a manor house from the first half of the 19th century), 2/12 Krestovozdvizhenky pereulok, buildings 2 and 4 (an outbuilding on the estate from the first half of the 19th century and an early 20th-century boarding house), 15 Starovagankovsky pereulok, and building 4 (an early 19th-century outbuilding on the estate).
The renovation of the buildings that make up the Gnesin Academy of Music began ten years ago, when the structures were declared hazardous.
The article in Kommersant recalls that until Sept., 2010, the official contractor for the renovation project at the Gnesin Academy of Music was the Mospromstroi company, but after a review of investment contracts conducted by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin after taking office, the decision was made to hold a new tender.
In 2011, Moscow officials announced a new tender for the contract to complete the construction of the Gnesin buildings, and three companies, including Inteks, submitted applications. However, none of the companies were allowed to enter the competition, and the tender was canceled. Inteks later filed a complaint with the Federal Antimonopoly Service, which directed the tender commission to reconsider the applications.
In late 2011, the Moscow deputy mayor for urban policy, Marat Khusnullin, reported that there were plans to build a new building for the Gnesin Academy of Music by the end of 2013. He then stated that they expected to spend 2.1 billion rubles on this structure.
The Gnesin Academy of Music was founded in early 1895 by pianists who had graduated from the Moscow Conservatory: Yevgeniya, Yelena, and Mariya Gnesin. The school's founding date is considered to be Feb. 15, 1895 - the day the first student enrolled.
In 1992, the school became the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music, the first music college in the country to be granted this status.
Throughout its history, the academy has produced thousands of professional musicians, composers, and educators, including Yevgeny Svetlanov, Aram Khachaturyan, Andrei Eshpai, Tikhon Khrennikov, Zakhar Bron, Mikhael Tariverdiyev, Lyudmila Zykina, Iosif Kobzon, David Tukhmanov, and many others.
Summa Group is involved in seaports, petroleum logistics, construction, engineering, the oil and gas industry, electricity, metallurgy, and telecommunications. In 2011, Summa completed the renovation of the Bolshoi Theatre (the renovation work was carried out by SUIproekt, CJSC, a subsidiary of the Summa company since 2009). Among the company's other projects is the construction of a stadium in Kazan and the creation of the Primorsk Trade Port.
