In the corridors at SPIEF, Ziyavudin Magomedov, the chairman of the board of directors of Summa Group reported to the Prime agency that next spring Summa plans to begin construction of a coal terminal in the Russian Far East at Vostochny Port.

"I think at the end of the year we we’ll complete our expert review and then start to build in the spring. The design work should be finished at the end of the summer," said Magomedov. However, he declined to estimate the total investment in that project, claiming it would be premature to discuss that while work on the project is still ongoing.

Magomedov said in 2011 that the group was planning to build a terminal capable of handling 15 million tons of coal and 3 million tons of general cargo a year. Total investment was estimated at about 9-10 billion rubles. Summa Group is a diversified Russian holding company with assets in port logistics, engineering, construction, telecommunications, and the oil and gas industry.
