GlobalElektroServis, OJSC will be busy with the renovation and expansion of the 330 kV Artem and Derbent substations in Dagestan until 2014.

On May 5, the engineering company GlobalElektroServis announced the winner of the contest sponsored by the Federal Grid Company UES for the right to sign a contractor agreement to develop documentation, supply materials and equipment, and carry out the construction and installation work, as well as the setup and startup operations involved in the expansion of the 330 kV Artem and Derbent substations.

The work was requested by MES South, a branch of UES FGC, OJSC. Work is underway on the construction of the 330 kV Artem - Derbent transmission line. According to Eldar Nagaplov, the CEO of GlobalElektroServis, OJSC, this project will increase the grid transmission capacity and ensure that power is distributed from hydroelectric power plants in Dagestan to the electrical systems in the North Caucasus and Southern federal districts.

Thus, the 330 kV Artem substation currently provides electricity to the central and northern parts of the Republic of Dagestan, with a population of about 1.8 million people, as well as to the region\\\'s major industrial consumers, including the Kraynovsky fish-processing plant, the Kurushskaya carpet factory, and the Kolos dairy-processing plant. The 330 kV Derbent substation supplies electricity to social and industrial facilities in the city of Derbent as well as to southern Dagestan. It will cost approximately 1.5 billion rubles to renovate and expand the substations.
