The geological service of JSC Yakutsk Fuel and Energy Company began a major overhaul of observation wells.

Today, along the Sredne-Vilyuysk gas condensate field, a system of observation wells located both in the bounds of the contour and behind the contour of the gas content, was completed. The observation fund of the Sredne-Vilyuysk GKM (gas condensate field) includes 9 wells.

The head of the geological service of JSC YATEC, Dmitry Savin, said that the provision of control over field development, the study of water system activity, the behaviour of bottom waters and the determination of regimes for the exploitation of deposits allow us to avoid irrigation of gas-bearing horizons and achieve the maximum coefficient for the extraction of hydrocarbon raw materials.

“Over the past three years a major overhaul of well №12 was carried out with piping of the opening and the installation of a well elevator for carrying out geophysical research and pumping fluid out of the well. Repair work was carried out on well №29 with the re-piping of the well opening and installation of a heating cable to the depth of 1200 m for the liquidation of hydrate formation in the well shaft. The installation of a heating cable in the observation well in the field was carried out for the first time and made it possible to conduct research at any time of the year without any additional time and material expenses of thawing the well.

At present, a major overhaul of well №28 is being carried out including re-piping of the opening. The repair of wells № 50 and 86 is provided for in the work plans for the major overhaul of the wells. Toward the end of 2014 the plans for repair of the wells are provided for in the implementation of necessary underground and ground-level repairs to the entire fund of the Sredne-Vilyuysk GKM (gas condensate field) observation wells.
