In the Primorsky Krai, Summa Group commenced work on an integrated investment project – the development of the East-Nakhodka Transport Hub. This will involve the creation of new infrastructure in Vostochny Port, including the development of railway approaches, as well as the construction of new coal terminal with a 20-million-ton annual capacity.
The project is being implemented on the basis of a public-private partnership. The new port infrastructure was ordered by FKU Rostransmodernizatsiya, and is being built by Stroynovatsiya LLC (part of the Summa Group). They will build 50 kilometers of new railway track, 11 bridges and overpasses and four berthing facilities with a total length of over 900 meters; carry out dredging operations, reconstruct the engineering infrastructure, and undertake geodetic survey works.
The work is scheduled for completion in the fourthquarter of 2017. At least 15% of the work will be given to local subcontractors. More than 1,400 people will work on this new transport hub.
By 2018, the Summa Group is also planning to build a new coal terminal in Vostochny Port. After the commissioning of its first phase, the terminal will process up to six million tons of coal, starting in 2020 – 12 million tons, and in 2025, it will reach its design capacity of 20 million tons annually. This will create more than 500 new jobs.
A meeting was held in the administration offices of the city of Nakhodka to organize and coordinate plans for the construction work, which will start in spring 2015. Present at the meeting were representatives from the Primorsky Krai Administration, local authorities, the state customer FKU Rostransmodernizatsiya, as well as the Summa Group.
Mikhail Pilipenko, Head of Nakhodka District emphasized the special importance of this project for his region: “In these currently difficult conditions, this large construction project will bring significant investments into Primorsky Krai, create new jobs, and also provide work for local construction companies.”
