Yakutsk Fuel and Energy Company (Yatec), the main gas producing company and the sole supplier of gas to the central regions of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), produced 943 million cubic meters of natural gas at the Srednevilyuy and Mastahskom fields in the first half of 2013, which is 5% more than in the same period of last year. In an effort to increase production, Yatec is building a second reservoir for gas condensate refinement capable of refining up to 100,000 metric tons per year.
The new GK-2 gas pipeline is being built to transport gas from a field being developed by the Srednevolzhskaya Gas Company (SVGK). Today, Yatec operates the GK-1 gas reservoir, whose refining process covers the northwestern part of the Srednevilyuy field. When the GK-2 comes online before the end of the year, it will be possible to provide an additional reserve of gas during peak loads.
