Yakutsk Fuel and Energy Company (Yatec) and Vocational School No. 31 of the Ministry of Education of Yakutia, located in Kyzyl-Syr, presents its first graduating class of people trained under a program to prepare local residents for careers. In the field of human resources policy, the company is pleased to have signed a contract with the school to ensure the training of qualified individuals for positions that need to be filled.

This educational program has made it possible to train specialists in high-demand professions and to fill positions with local workers. The students received free training for high-demand occupations and can now work without having to leave their native village.

By teaming up with Yatec, the school was able to raise its own prestige among other educational institutions in the country.

Vocational School No. 31 was established in 1994 and became a branch of Vilyuy Vocational School in 2008. The school trains people in the following fields:

· Safety of technological processes and production

· Road maintenance and repairs

· Organization management

· Economics and management of natural resources

· Design, construction and operation of gas and oil pipelines

· Economics and management of transport

· Economics and management (oil & gas)

· Oil and gas business

· Installation and operation of gas supply equipment and systems

· Accounting and audit

· Oil and gas well drilling

· Development and exploitation of gas and gas condensate fields

· Automation of technological processes in the oil and gas industry

· Natural resource management

At the request of Yatec, last year we introduced 12 new professions that are in demand not only at the organization that applied, but throughout the country. This is a great achievement for us. Yatec gave us the right to use its technical base. We signed a contract with the company under which we are providing practical training for our students. In addition, we have decided to take advantage of the company’s practical experience and professional skills. And they met us halfway. An opportunity arose to link theory and practice, so Yatec employees gave lectures,” says Lilia Golovina, the school’s director.

Before beginning to work with the students, the Yatec employees received training and obtained teaching permits. Company employees chaired examining committees tasked with sitting in on the defense of diploma projects. While the program was being implemented, the school introduced the practice of using demonstration exams, in which students take the exam right at Yatec production facilities.

The teachers reported that the new approach to the educational process had increased the quality of the teaching, which means that employers are getting more qualified employees. The first 44 graduates received diplomas on June 24, and the best of them will work for Yatec.

It is also worth noting that Yatec’s staffing policy involves offering internships to students from North-Eastern Federal University, the Yakutsk campus of Baikal State University of Economics and Law and other educational institutions.
